It's been a great weekend so far! Yesterday Dan and I got a fantastic Christmas tree from the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis and spent several hours decorating it while it rained cats and dogs outside. We were really lucky to get the tree home before the heavens opened up. While decorating the tree we discovered that we have already accumulated way too many ornaments! I assumed a couple had to be married for a long time before that happened, but there were barely enough branches on our tree for all of the ones we have now. Between the ornaments Dan and I had before we were together and the ones we've inherited from our families, we need quite a large tree to accommodate them all. This year's tree turned out great, though. I love having it in the living room where I can see it when I'm making dinner or watching TV. It makes me smile. Plus, it reminds me to enjoy the holiday season even though it's busy and stressful. Last year I just put up my little pre-lit artificial tree because Dan and I were going to be in New Zealand for the holidays. It was a bit anticlimactic. Granted, Christmas in New Zealand was amazing, but having a beautiful tree at home makes the rest of December just hat much better. Pictures to come!
