One more airline post and then I'll move on (at least until my next trip in 8 days). I was scheduled to leave DC today on a 4:45 PM flight, but my work duties ended yesterday (albeit at 9:30 PM, a bit later than I would have liked) and I wanted to get back to LA as soon as possible to see my husband and enjoy the weekend. So when I checked in online yesterday I put myself on the standby list for the 8:25 AM flight this morning even though it looked like every seat was already spoken for. The same was true for the three other flights to LA before mine at 4:45 PM, but I was hopeful that I could get a seat on one of them. One of my coworkers was in the exact same situation and we were wondering which one of us would get the better spot on the standby list. When we got to the airport this morning at 6:30 AM we found out - frequent flier status (mine) trumps business class fare (his). I was second on the standby list and was lucky enough to get the very last seat on the 8:25 AM flight. I got on the plane just before they closed the door at 8:15 AM and discovered that I had an aisle seat! So not only did I got to LA more than 8 hours earlier than originally scheduled, but I got there in the most comfortable fashion. I'm so glad to be home!

That sounds like quite the luck for a day (getting on standby AND a good seat) - should have bought a lottery ticket! Hope you enjoy your time at home!
