OK, so I guess I won't be moving on from airlines just yet. Considering that I've been on a business trip for the past two weeks I don't have much else to write about. So let me tell just one more airline story. My work shift ended at 7 AM last Friday, but my flight home wasn't until almost 6 PM. So I went back to my hotel, worked out, packed my suitcase, and checked out as late as I could without being charged for another night. This was late enough that my room key got deactivated before I checked out. That was annoying. I drove to the airport at 2 PM and got to the gate about an hour later. Since boarding wouldn't start for about 2 hours, and since it had been a while since I got any sleep, I curled up on a bench and drifted off. When I woke up the gate was packed with people waiting to get on a flight to San Francisco, not Los Angeles. I assumed my flight had been moved to another gate while I was asleep, so I checked the departure monitors only to discover that it had been cancelled altogether. Great. So I joined several hundred people at the United customer service desk to get on another flight. Unfortunately I had to stay another night in DC (in a hotel room paid for by United) because I couldn't get a seat on another flight until the next morning. What a mess. I finally got to Los Angeles at 11 AM on Saturday - 15 hours later than originally planned. The good news is that I probably won't be going on another business trip for a while. I need a break.
